DVD collections

The DVD's Edition Filmmuseum 04 and Edition Filmmuseum 05 present films which refer to each other: Both films deal with the taboo subject homosexuality, both film were censored and forbidden, both films don't suvive in the original form as intended by the filmmakers. The DVD's offer as ROM features many unpublished documents about the production and censorship history of the films. A special highlight is a letter exchange between the Jewish emigrant Richard Oswald (Anders als die Andern) and Nazi protegé Veit Harlan (Anders als du und ich).

Eight 2-disc DVDs (Edition Filmmuseum 20-27) with more than 50 films: All the films for cinema by Alexander Kluge as well as a selection of his works for television. Also included as ROM features are short stories, texts (in German and English) and five complete books by Alexander Kluge as well as a new book about Kluge Neonröhren des Himmels. Ein Filmalbum (only in German). Besides Edition Filmmuseum offers exclusively nine booklets with pictures and more texts by Kluge in German and English.

Four classics of the German film comedy: Napoleon ist an allem schuld (1938), Frauenarzt Dr. Prätorius (1950), Das Haus in Montevideo (1951) und Hokuspokus (1953). All the DVDs (Edition Filmmuseum 13-16) also offer documents, texts, radio plays and documentaries by or about Curt Goetz and Valerie von Martens.

Also included as ROM features are short stories and texts (in German and English) as well as complete books by and about Alexander Kluge (only in German). The booklets on each 2-disc DVD offer exclusively additional texts by Kluge in German and English.

German silent cinema from Das Cabinet des Dr. Caligari to the coming of the talkies is one of the most celebrated eras in film history.
